MG MG Y Type - R.A.E.Models

Does any one know what has happened to RAE Models? Their web site is down and I have had no reply from writing. A couple of years ago I was given a kit to make up a model of my YT and it was only recently when I was layed up that I got round to making it. The model is complete all but for two hubcaps that were malformed any help would be appreciated.

Hi Peter,

Bad news I suspect - I beleive they have ceased trading. Have you tried calling them on +44 (0)1932 563600? If the number is no longer in service I think it reasonable to assume they have ceased trading. I do know that last time I spoke with them they were certainly discontinuing the MG models they made.

Can you please post back here your findings and let me know and I will amend the links page accordingly.

Hello Peter.
Try K&R Replicas
at http://www.kandrreplicas.co.uk/ordering.htm
or phone/fax 01580 850559
good range of 1/43rd MG kits and built ups.
Very helpfull, just completed a model of a ZA and the hub caps from that model would do.
Good luck

Hopefully one day K&R will make a YT to complement Lansdowne's excellent Y saloon.

There is a made up RAE Y Type model on eBay at http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1950-MG-Y-Type-by-RAE-Models-KE006-Boxed_W0QQitemZ290132189903QQihZ019QQcategoryZ19066QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem but I suppose it's a bit expensive just for two hub caps.

Good news! I have made contact through the phone number and a new pair of hub caps are on the way to me. Apparently the company is still trading but not with model cars. Demand dried up so supply has been suspended, but they still have the moulds and a good supply of spares. They are now fitting out museums? Thanks for all answers and suggestions
