MG MG Y Type - Rear Stop/signal lamp

Does anyone know where I can obtain a replacement on the rear fender tail lamps?

What kind of replacement are you looking for Ed? The one that you show in the photo is not correct for EX(U). The correct part number for the EX(U) lenses were MG Part Number 572507 and were Lucas 482/1. As to where you will get them ... sorry no idea but I would start with some of the vendors on the Links page for Electrical (https://www.mg-cars.org.uk/imgytr/links.shtml#Electrical) and email them to ask if they can supply you.

The L482 was also used on MG TC EX(U) so you could also try Abingdon Spares https://abingdonspares.com/products/rear-turn-indicator-tc-exu. You do not need the outer shell but you wont be able to buy separately but this may be what you need. I do not have an EX(U) to verify this against though.

It's hard to tell the lens size from the photo, but would a late TD lens and rubber surround fit? If so, pretty easy to source. Also, Lucas round lights appeared on various other British makes from 50s onwards. John.

Paul do you have a close up picture or photo of what a 482/1 looks like?
Let there be 'Y's page 116 has a photo
of the Lucas 482/1 but it is difficult to se details.

The tail lamp for your YT is also alvailable from Doug Pelton of From the Frame Up, https://fromtheframeup.com/collections/tail-lamp/products/el870-lamp-assembly-tc-exu

Being in the USA, like Abingdon Spares, his parts do not incur Trump's tariffs and foreign shipment costs as do GB suppliers.

Doug can also supply any part for the YT that is in common with TC's, and many in common with TD/Fs.

I have no financial interest in FTFU, but have been a totally pleased customer for many years.

Ed- you should not need the rear brass shell possibly but as I have never had the opportunity to examine a Y/T EX(U) I cannot be certain. Please let me know how it works out for future questions.
