MG MG Y Type - rear window glass removal

Well the front glass came out relatively easily once I'd worked out how to use the cut-out to rear of the opening to pass the bottom fixing through but the rear has me foxed. Can someone, therefore, point me to a description of how to do this. I have searched this site, and others, without any success so far. I'm sure it is just me but I find the search function here less than useful. I haven't got an LTBYs I'm afraid but surely there is a description somewhere else. Franz,s posts are usually helpful for such things but even his write-ups were unable to help.

Do you have a workshop manual?
It is well covered in pages P-15 to P-17 in the body section.

Dooh! Thanks Tony. Sometimes I get just too close to a problem to see the obvious. Yes I have a workshop manual and yes its in there.

"Franz,s contributions are usually helpful for such things, but even his notes could not help. "

Thanks

the fabric in my car was wet and dirty, the wood damaged and also wet
it was terrible at that time
but in my blog there are a lot of pictures from this step
maybe
it will be easier if you look at my pictures when I moved the new fabric in.

If I remember correctly you have to take all the fabric off around the window. The fabric is wrapped around a piece of wood and then screwed to a lower piece of wood in a hidden way, this I think also fixes the window in the rubber.
so loosen the fabric on the rear side window, look at post 22 in my blog, loosen the decorative tape on the window, so the wood is also fixed, then loosen the fabric
then lift the fabric in the direction of the rear window, then you should see the screws that hold the piece of wood that fixes the window.
so I think it was
i hope my english and the translator did not destroy it

#695
one more picture how it is done

you have to read my blog to the end ;-)

i hope i could help you with the information
i think you will not find so much pictures at any other place for such a car
twice it would be better, next time i will do it
FT Franz

thanks Franz. I maybe should have been clearer but I was trying to remove the glass in the rear door. I have managed it now though, thanks to the workshop manual. I have seen your very comprehensive write-up of the rear window and headlining and will probably have to use it when I get that far.

Hello
also I wrote something about the door window
how to get the glass out
You should take a lot of pictures of the disassembly
so you have to go backwards when you redo it
