MG MG Y Type - Rivets for S700 and FT57 lamps

I need to put the bases back on my S700 lamps and FT57 lamp after the Chromer took them apart. Any one any ideas where I can get the necessary Chrome rivets from please? I have already tried:
Gregory's Autoparts,
Staffordshire Vehicle Components, and
Paul Beck
with no joy.

Someone must have done this before and found a source - I am sure!

I not only need the big rivets to put the bases back on, but also the small ones inside for the cord grips etc.

All leads will be investigated!

Thanks

Paul,
I pulled my headlamps apart but I have 8" and the bottom section is painted so easy to just paint the new rivets. Ok I am getting to the good bit! You can buy chrome or copper bifurcated rivets(the ones with two legs you bend over)from craft shops etc. They are used as studs for belts and jackets etc. Ask a bikie he will know!!!

Hi Richard

Will they hold with the vibration etc from the engine & road do you think?

Thanks Sandy - they are sending me a full catalog despite having one on line. I am intrigued by the bolt/rivets though.

I will let you know how I make out.

Paul,
I guess after road testing for 75,000 miles the answer is yes!

Richo, if you already have used these, which rivets do I need to order please?

Paul,
I had a quick look in the garage but could not find any examples of what I used but I know I used copper bifurcated rivets. Best I can suggest is go to a craft or leather shop and look at what they have and select something suitable. You will need something with a solid shank shorter or equal to the thickness of the metal you are riviting together. Maybe an internet search may turn up a local supplier. I have just checked a 7" headlight and I may have given you a bum steer because they have rivets with a much larger head than the older 8" lamps. If you don't have any success let me know and I will ask my wife where she bought them and then go and have a look what's available.
Cheers Richo YT3208.
