MG MG Y Type - Rubber Grommets -- any idea?

Hello Y-typers,

in my buckets of YA parts I found several of these 2 different rubber bushes or grommets -- see photo. Has somebody any idea where they have to go?

Thanks in advance
Walter

Steering bushings. There would be 6 that fit the steering shaft to the steering box. One on each side of the three holes. As I remember, the bolt is bigger on one side, so the larger one goes on the bolt first.

Thanks Bruce
but the grommets you meant are much smaller. My grommerts are about double the site if the steering shaft bushes.
. . . and the depicted bushes are 2 different ones.

Initially I thought, they have to go into the jacks as seals, but for this purpuse tey are too small.

any other idea?

regards
Walter

not having a YA i can't look but are they anything to do with the panhard rod on the rear of the car??

No, I checked the rubbers at the panhard rod already. Maybe they come from another car?

Send an email to mike@mgbits.com (NTG) with a photo and the dimensions of each type of grommet and ask him Walter. He may be able to advise.

If he is, come back and let us know please.

Could be bushes of a lorry's telescopic shock absorbers. One of my TD sports a telescopic conversion with exactly the same mounting rubbers as the bush shown at the right side of the picture (only smaller in size).

Walter,
Whats the numbers or letters on at least one of the bushes??
John UMG624
JC Jebb

John,
the bigger one has "WM 2498" and "WR 46" on top.
The smaller one, shows nothing.

Hi Walter,
The large one looks very much like one of the inner bushes of a Ford track control arm

Hi All,
Not for steering col/rack connection the right bushes for that job are MR 44s mgooc no SST007 all six are the same size 11mm high by top of the taper 24mm bottom 21mm the taper runs 95% of the bush, hole in middle is 10/11mm also not engine stabilizer they have a flange on them plus a groove and are quite thin.
