MG MG Y Type - Service manual

I would like to know if there is a service manual specific to the Y..Or even just a lube chart. Thought I saw one on ebay a month or so ago..Any direction would be helpfull because I need to service my car..Thanks...

Mail me off-line and I'll reply with a scan of the lubrication card.

You can buy the service manual via the Y-register in reprinted form or watch eBay, sometimes they pop up.

Marvin - check out the book review page on www.mgytypes.org. There you will find that the MG Octagon Car Club sell reprints of the original Workshop Manuals for the MG YA/YT and for the MG YB too. They also do a reprint of the Service Parts manual too.

Originals come up on eBay from time to time but the reprint is good because you can get it dirty without worrying about harming a treasured object of history.

There is a guy on eBay who is also flogging reprinted Y Workshop manuals however two things to bear in mind are, 1) he does so without copyright permission from BMW who technically still currently own the rights to the publication, and b) more importantly his start price on eBay is more than the cost of buying direct from the MG Octagon Owners Club.

The MGOCC do sell to non-members, and I would strongly encourage anyone to consider being a member of both the MG Car Club (our parent organisation of which we are a register) and also of the MG Octagon Car Club. The website is of course totally free access to anyone irrespective of what club you do, or do not belong to, as we are interested solely in promoting the MG Y Type, its ownership, and the enjoyment of their owners, even though we are affiliated to the MGCC.

Hope this is helpful to you.

I also forgot to add that if you browse the Book Review page and the Regalia list you will find many products that will assist you in the service and care of your Y Type, from our datasheets to our Lubrication Charts. All are equally available at the same price whether you are a member of the MGCC or not.

If you use the URL http://www.mgytypes.org as suggested by Willem the Book Review page is the 10th menu item on the left frame - hover over the item with your mouse and 2 sub-items will pop up - Regalia and Book Review. You can then click on the sub items which will take you directly to the pages.

There is a link in the Book Review page to the MGOCC website there too.

Err Marvin,

I'm afraid I've instructed my darling wife to good about not trusting mail from "hotmail-addresses" especially when there is no subject. And for good measure I specifically ordered her not to open them and remove them immediately from the "garbage-bin", too.

Guess what happened to your mail requesting the lube chart, from an hotmail-address and no subject.....?

Could you PLEASE send another mail, WITH a subject (may I suggest: Important MG Y mail, Liesbeth please keep your hands off!)
Willem van der Veer

Willem - you are already grounded from last time. If you are not careful you may end up with less than you came into life with!

Remember John Bobbit!
