MG MG Y Type - Spare wheel compartment chain clips

I am seeking information concerning the clips used to secure the retaining chains on the spare wheel compartment cover. The upper clips attach to the lip of the opening in the rear body. They are visible in the photographs on pages 130 and 131 of LTBY's. They appear to be simple right angle brackets.
The lower clips are not visible in these photos, but I suspect they are also right angle brackets, attached to the studs at the rear of the "D" lamps.

Any description/dimensions/diagrams of these clips would be most appreciated. I hope to be able to fabricate functional copies.

Hi Rodney, here is a picture of the lower end of the chain. The upper end is fixed in a similar way thru the lip of the opening. There are no brackets involved. Will attach a picture of the upper one as well.
Hope this helps.

Terry,
Thanks for your photos. As they say, "A picture is worth a 1000 words."
I had noted the holes in the lip of the lid opening, but thought they were too small a diameter for the chain clips to fit. They were not.
My chains are in place and functioning as intended.
Octagonally,

Thanks

I have wondered about this for 30 years...mine are held by angled brackets underneath the nuts that hold the D lamps...I knew it was not right but now I know!
Good to see Rocky (shades of 'Angels with Dirty Faces') is still in the Y type fraternity...I recall corresponding with him back in the 80s/90s when he was looking for bits and pieces for his YB.

Hey Paul, I have a couple I could send to you, or I could go and see my friendly spring manufacturer and get a batch of 30 made - any takers out there ???

Now the Airline Coupe is back on the road, I can get back to Y-Types for a while !.

cheers

Dave,
Yes, I'm still around, slowly bringing YB0952 back on the road - after a 20 year interuption. She still sports the SFT575 foglamp you sold me.

Upon closer examination of the photos referenced above from LTBY's it does appear that the chains hook directly through the hole in the bodywork. There are no brackets, just as Terry states. Further, I do not see any such brackets listed in the YB Service Parts List AKD832.

It will be most interesting to learn more about Dave and Tony's brackets.

Hi Tony

I would suggest a batch divisible by 4 is better since you need the same top and bottom and left and right.

I would say go ahead and get a quote and let us know approximately how much they'd be per set of four and mark me up for one set please.
