MG MG Y Type - UMG 370: another eBay discovery?

It looks like another University Motors car has emerged from a garage somewhere in London:

Has anyone any knowledge of this car or its history, or is this another "new" find? From the eBay listing, there's no history with the car, which might make keeping the number difficult. Would be sad if the number got separated from the car, which seems to happen so often these days.

Unusual air filter?

Very professionally done and probably at the same time the heater was fitted.

My 1951 #6486 has the UMG-315 plate. This 1949 YA has plate UMG-370. It follows that the plates were not issued in strict numerical sequence, right?

My car is UMG 366, issued in May 1951, so I did wonder about the 1949 date claim: UMG 360 was registered in May 51 too. But that has chassis Y5405 I think - things seemed a bit chaotic then, to say the least!

The car itself disappeared from eBay before being sold: does anyone know what happened to it?

I seem to recall that University Motors 'bought' UMG numbers, either from the governement or private parties.

On delivery of a new car the UMG number was transferred to it. That way you can view the UMG number as the second, personalised registration and that would explain the unlogical order.

I saved the airfilter picture for the archives.
