MG MG Y Type - Very early very tired bedraggled XPAG

Hi All,
Might be of interest to you historians out there. Picked up this xpag yesterday, engine no 10145 does this make it quite an early one??, there is still enough paint around to show its the early colour also the front mounting plate was the same colour. I cannot find the stamped in the block eng no only on the brass disc, it has the early starter ring fitted. If!! i manage to get the photos on site you will see the poor old girls a bit worse for wear and wether she's recoverable as an engine time will tell,

Hi,
with this engine is there anyway using its number of telling which Y it went in? i also managed to get the bonnet from the same scrapped car ( the rest long gone) the colour being BRG but on closer examination the orignal colour was a light green, possibly Almond Green.

Hi John,
The "SC" in the engine number designates "single carburettor" so it is not from a Y-Tourer. The experts should be able to tell you when the block was cast from the numbers cast near the dipstick. I am not an expert in this field but think A is January, B is Feb and so on. A 6 could be 1946 etc but not sure. Can you post a clearer picture of the numbers near the dipstick?
