MG MG Y Type - Y-Type 'Down Under Convention' in 2004

The MG Car Clubs of Australia National Meeting is to be held at Warwick in Queensland over the Easter break in 2004. I am proposing that in association with the National Meeting, we hold a gathering of Y-Types and their owners from around Australia (and the rest of the world!). Can it be done, & "Y" not. Anyone interested? I am not proposing that everyone needs to participate in the Nat Meet, for some that can be just a side interest, but it would be a good opportunity to gather together with our cars, for those Y-Type owners who are members of MG Clubs and those who are not.

The Program in mind - maybe a little dinner together on the free night like the Pre-war & V8 Register people, obviously a display at the Concours, and a touring rally around the district as well. The aim is to add to the National Meeting, not draw people away to another program altogether.

If you are interested, please e-mail me direct, or reply on this thread.

Tony ,
A great idea - should have my YT on the road by then . Will email you about this

Well David there have not been many responses so far. I think we need probably ten cars to make it worthwhile from a time investment perspective, and at the moment we only have four, and all of those are entering the Nat Meet.

How can we encourage more Y's out of the garages?

Hello Tony, I am finally active with the PC again after some repairs.

Count myself and Julie in at Warwick, also Megan (YT3477)- I was planning to attend anyway and the company of a Y enthusiast enclave would make the deal even better. It should be a real fun time.
Have any other Qld Ys nominated?

I now have a flyer for distribution for the Y-Type "Convention" next Easter. All those who are interested need only send me their e-mail address and I will forward a flyer. So far we have 5 Tourers and 3 Saloons listed as interested in attending.

Tony,

The Vic MGCC ran this years Natmeet and wanting to get the maximum number of TF's and magnettes there for the 50th annivesary, struck a special grille badge which was ONLY available to those who attended.

Something worth considering in support of your Y convention as a small temtation for those not yet committed.
Phil Stafford

We are considering a Grille Badge as well as Coffee Mugs and anything else to raise the interest. Thank You for your reply, are you coming? Would you like me to send you a flyer?
Tony Slattery

Tony Slattery has informed us on the website of this event and we were pleased to start the 2004 Events Calendar for him. If you would like to get a copy of his "flyer", for what promises to be the premier Y Event of the Year downunder please go to the website (http://www.mgytypes.org) and then click on EVENTS where you may download it.

If I won the lottery - I'd definately be going! Good luck Tony!

I am not sure if my Y will be finished in time. ( see Interesting Y's (Y4608) on the y type website and you will see why I may not have my Y there. I may come up in my MGF so I'll download a flyer from the Y Website.
