MG MG Y Type - Y-Type Newsletter

Excellent that this occupies no less than four pages of the latest "Safety Fast". The full history of the Register is particularly helpful and interesting for us new boys and congratulations are due to Dennis Doubtfire, David Hague, Neil Cairns and Jack Murray for their authorship and even more for all they've done over the years to make the Register the best. Well done
Regards,

I look forward to getting my copy and reading all about it. I am sure I will echo Geoffrey's comments when I do.

In common with all overseas members - we pay an inflated membership rate ... and get a poorer service! Typically our Safety Fast gets here in the end of the second or third week of the month for which it covered. Conversely the Octagon Car Club magazine arrives absolutely on schedule - strange that!

Paul Barrow

Paul,

I had no idea that Overseas Members received their Magazines so late. This gives you no chance with cars/items for sale, competitions or anything else that may be time critical. Have you asked the MGCC for an explanation?
Keith D Herkes

Hi Keith

Correct - no chance at all. Also, with them publishing the username and password for their highly sensitive and top secret website we get less than 2 weeks at that! I still have to receive the June Safety Fast and we are now in the 3rd week of the month!

I have never bothered to ask Main Club as to WHY overseas members are doubly hit by higher fees and poorer service, like most ex-pats though, you just put it down to "Rip-off Britain" and suffer it. Sure would be nice to receive them in a timely fashion though - dont UK members usually get theirs in the last few days of the preceeding month?

FYI June 07 Safety Fast has just arrived (19 June 2007)! When does anyone else generally get theirs?

Paul glad to hear you have received your copy, I have not seen mine yet.You would think that being a part of the Commonwealth Canadains we would get better service than the US. Hopefully it will arrive in the next couple of days.

Frank - that is incredible! You are nearer the UK than I am too!

If you dont get it by 1 July dont worry as I will be posting the contents of the Y Register Newsletter spread to the Newsletter page so you wont miss out.

G/day Paul,

19th June dosn't sound too bad - my S/F arrived down-under today [27th June]!!

Like you mentioned the Octagon C.C. bulletin arrived weeks ago - be interesting to see if the postage improves when S/Fast becomes independant again from M.G. Enthusiast Magazine?

regards

Dont hold your breath Ron, I dont seem to recall it was that much better before! Besides, apart from Neil Cairn's Y Register Newsletter, I prefer MGE as a magzine now and have taken out the seperate subscription to that. What will be interesting to see is if I get the MGE for the next month BEFORE I get the previous month's SF!!

Glad you guys had a good 60th - maybe the UK folk can send you a bucket of water for your reservoir ... from what I have heard they have plenty to spare. Knowing the UK though there will be a hose pipe ban in place before September :-)

Glad to see you got yours on the 27th. I am a lot closer to the UK and only received it on the 25th. Hope service improves in the future but our mail delivery by Canada Post is not good at the best of times. If they can not meet the standards set down they change the standards to what is acutally happening. ie deliver from Toronto 70 miles from Cobourg can be 3 to 5 day.
