MG MG Y Type - YA For Sale Down Under

Currently on the CarSales Australia site is a Y-Saloon - Y2897 in very good condition for a very reasonable price.

More remarkable is that this car was an unknown survivor in Australia and it will be interesting to unearth the story of where it has been hiding all these years.

I have not connection to the seller or the website where it is advertised.

Have a good day,

Tony

Tony, no wonder it has been unknown as it is in Broken Hill, a long way from anywhere. I wonder how long it has been out there in the dry / arid conditions?

I think the price is a reflection on it being in Broken Hill and not in a major population centre.

Did you notice the large octagonal nut (possibly MG badge) on the top of the chrome air filter cover?

For those not in OZ, Broken Hill is 500km north of Adelaide, 1000km west of Sydney.

cheers

Stuart I almost take exception to your comments Broken Hill is only 290 klm north of Mildura. We regularly have contact with members of the Broken Hill car club but I have not come across this car.
Recently the bridge on the highway between here and the Hill was out of commission so the NSW dept. of roads offered an alternative rout on bitumen approx.1000klm
Locals all new of alternate rout extra 5 klm. We all need government direction.

Merry Christmas to all

You are right Tony, that is a nice car and very reasonably priced.
Car number Y2897 most probably arrived in Australia on the same ship as my car which is numbered Y2866. It would be nice if these cars could talk and give us their story.

Hmmm - Broken Hill, I have never been to Broken Hill.

Now that's a road trip !.

I agree Terry - if only they could talk, what would they say about their adventures ?.

Cheers

Bargain, looks in good condition. Let's hope it falls into the hands of enthusiast not dealer looking to make a quick buck.

You could pay a deposit and then borrow Ellen's trailer and pick it up on your way to 2020 Nat Meet in Albury and use it as your MG whilst there.

Sorry not for me, I am already in trouble for having 2 MGs. I will be attending the Albury Nat Meet, but probably trailering the YT to and from.

My wife took her first ride in the YT to Club Annual Presentation lunch at the RACV Convention Centre. Here is a photo of the YT displayed with a few other pre MGB MGs.

The new owner of this car has added the details to Y's on Parade.

What a find.
