MG MG Y Type - yb brake drum

Hi
Sorry to butt in from the TD/TF section but I am in deep trouble.
Does anybody in the UK have a YB rear brake drum for sale, without one my car is unusable. I have tried to buy a new one but they are no longer available from any of the T Type suppliers.

Ray-

There are a number of T spares on the UK ebay site, to include a lot of YB spares. Should be some drums there.

Hi Ray. It's a TF drum I presume you are after for a disc wheeled TF. I also have a disc wheeled 1954 TF (4114).
If the T Series parts suppliers are no help try the suppliers for other British marques of the period that would have used the same brake components as MG probably Morris, Austin, Wolseley, Riley, Singer, Hillman etc etc.

Barrie the T Register TF Tech Rep in UK might be able to help you source a drum or provide the names of the marques that used the same brake components. His contact details are on the T register website.
Good luck!

Many thanks for the feedback.
I now have a pair of good condition drums from Andy King. He sent them to me by courier the next day.
Fantastic service!
I wish this sort of service had been around when I first rebuilt the TF 32 years ago,I must have used a whole oil well rushing all over the country.

I doubt if Riley, Singer or Hillman would use the same drum as a Nuffield car! But the relevant 10-12hp saloons of Morris and Wolsey do, as the MG had to use the Nuffield corporate parts bin. However, by 1952 Wolseley still used the same drum, but with only four studs ( on their 4/44)

Given the resurgence in interest in Ys now, hopefully fewer Ys are being broken, and what spares there are on the market are finding homes with Y owners now!

Ray - I am delighted you have got your drums though.
