MG MG Y Type - YT 3921 The Beginning

I have owned this restorer approx 12 mnths and today was the real beginning to start on the rust repair of the rear wheel arches and the spare wheel compartment which was poorly patched by some previous owner ( not to forget putting the two halves together that some other half wit cut in two below the hinge positions , and also the sills are shot.) All relevant repair sections have been imported from NTG.
So the surgery begins.
The tenant at Kimbers Kastle is on the operating table and has good bones but requires cosmetic surgery, There are 7 other patients in the ward but the number of surgeons is limited. Recovery will take some time . We hope recovery is shorter than 26 years wrt Antons cot case.
COVID may have had some responsibility in this case.

Tony S , I think you know this one will be Clipper Blue in colour!
It won’t be ready for 75th in Gympie.

Hi All,
I need to take this opportunity to thank Franz, for the assistance, and advice he has provided me personally. I value his encouragement and example too.

thanks Franz, KGM

Thank you Kevin

I was happy to do it.
I think my blog is a good anchor for anyone doing such a restoration. I myself have searched so much on the internet to find help. Unfortunately my English is not so good and the translations not so good that I understood what was written, pictures like they are in my blog help with every language.

In our country we say
a picture is worth a thousand words.

Nobody can take away what I have learned in this time.
I am now much more confident with freecad, my 3d printer, my lathe and understand how relays work, can deform sheet metal as I want, have sewn and painted leather....
Today I was at the Tüv right next to Brabus, an engineer from Brabus was there and admired my car, when I said that I really did everything myself he took off his hat = high esteem

If anyone has any questions, I'm always happy to answer them.

always bring it here
FT Franz

The Beginning +1, today we created the pattern for the repair of the rear under the tire well with wrap around , cut out metal with the new air powered shears ( easier on gentle hands ) and button screw tacked in place, and now to check placement of NTG well floor. A bit of a fiddle but there was no cussing. Will now sit on it a few days to settle our thoughts and tomorrow something easy like finish panels back to bare metal.
All this possible due CVD lockdown here in Victoria-we have the time.

A Correction, Anton took 36 years not 26 , I don’t have that much time !

PS. Franz , a marvellous effort in your case and only 22 months. I would like to see again your photos on the sill work. You are an amazingly talented guy.
