MG MG Y Type - YT Battery Box lid

Hello all. I find myself in the unusual position of owning two YTs that sit on either end of the production schedule like books ends (both shown in YTs on Parade). Somehow neither of these cars has managed to retain the battery box lid.

While I suppose this is not a critical part, it would still be useful to have on the car. While I could make these up out of materials obtained locally, I thought I would see if atone on the list might have one or two they would be willing to sell.

If so please contact me at - Oasis at erols dot com so we might would out details.

Thanks all

Best place a wanted ad on the advertisement section of this website in case this post is not noticed enough.I am sure there are some battery box top lids around as they do come up for sale occasionally.

Battery box lids are scarce and hard to come by to be honest. They are not hard to make though, provided you have access to some sheet metal, mica sheet insultation and are able to buy the two legs for the clasps on the side.

Drop me a note if you need dimensions and I will measure up for you and dig out the part numbers etc.

Thank you Paul. It would be helpful if you have the measurements. THe box in both cars is complete except for the lid, so the latch is there. I am fairly certain that I can make the tab that the latch works on to close the lid, but I can see that the tolerance for the size and thickness of the lid itself is very close.

Do you know if the box in the YA or YB are the same?

I seem to recall NTG sold lids at one time or maybe just the clips that go on top - might be worth e mailing them. Occasionally ads in the MG Octagon Car Club bulletin are useful for spares as well.

Basic drawing has been done, and I am now trying to remember who, in our wonderful Y Type community, has converted my rather ppor drawings into reasonable engineering plans! My apologies if you are reading this and it was you ... but if it was, can you please contact me as we are in need of your services again!

Thanks
