MG MG Y Type - YT EXR/K 4619 new stable mates!! Wow

It's reassuring to read an article about the collection of classic cars that the late David Pelham's MG YT has now joined in Herts.

The collection featured in one of the classic car magazine I recall reading whilst in ASDA whilst passing time whilst the other half started the shopping.

It has now featured in the national press in the Sun article above, there is a video with the owner of the collection talking about his cars, but sadly no views in the video that I could make out of late the David's fine motor.

Enjoy the article!

Had an enjoyable visit to the collection today, the YT looks the same today as when I saw it under David's ownership.
Superb collection of other exotic cars sat around the YT.

Hi Richard

Perhaps you can post the full address and details of how to get access please? Interesting story for sure and thank you for checking it out. Interesting too to read how he made his ££s! Always wondered who invented that system! Simple but ingenious!

An eclectic mix of cars. One of my favourites is the drop head Citroen DS. Although I have been a passenger in such a model I have never driven one. It was this experience that encouraged us to buy the first of two new GS Citroens that we bought in 1977 and then in 1980. Interesting cars with self levelling suspension and a quirky dash panel and a wider range of instruments on the UK version though not found in the French model. Anyhow after the second one in which the engine fell apart on the M6 we bought s/hand. We seem to have acquired Citroens ever since as everyday motors (GS,BX,Xsara,Zantia, C4 and currently a C3) other than a brief 2 year spell with an Audia 80.

Good to see David's YT. Just a query was it in this state when it was in his ownership - metallic finish and black interior (non standard colours). I was aware that he imported possibly 3 YTs and one went to Andrew Coulson (since sold), another (?), was the blue one imported from Switzerland (?) perhaps Paul might elaborate on this please? You might drop the owners a line updating thr info on numbers produced as shown on their website.

A good find though Richard and thanks for sharing the info with us.
All the best

The YT is in same condition as presented now as when David owned it, seats and colour the same. I saw it at David's house in 2012.

Hi Jerry

The seats are actually midnight blue and the paint is a BMW metallic paint. This is exactly how David had it and it was a definite 95 point car beautifully restored. I was fortunate enough to see, ride and drive it with David before he died, right down to the rust spot on the valve cover and rusty top to the air cleaner both of which he intended to get after he told me at the time.

The very sad part about the car's current ownership is that it will be most unlikely to see road use again :( which is a sad thing as cars do not do well just to sit in museums. David's intention in his restoration was to do it then drive the heck out of it. He would be very sad to see it in a museum as I am too. However, this is an owner's choice and not ours so I respect that.
