MG MG Y Type - YT Rev. Counter Identification
Can anyone please confirm that the Number on the rev. counter clock face of a Y/T reads 1675 please (which would be identical with a TC's)? The attached sample picture shows a clock face of an early TD that, because of its smaller wheel diameter has different innards and thus shows another Number (1600). Thank you Anton, Y/T 4220

Anton Do you have a copy of Let there be Ys? This is covered in it. If you do not, let me know (by email) and I will look it up for you when I get home on Wednesday. Paul

Anton, Richard is correct, there is no numbers on the face of the tacho, just K30. I have two YT's in my shed at the moment, and they are the same - just "K30". Be aware that the TA used a similar tacho, but had a different reduction gearbox on the dynamo, so there could have been a few different models of the tacho from TA, TB, TC to TD & YT.

Gentlemen I must have overlooked the topic in LTBYs and will check it out later on. Its interesting though that Richards speedo is a S.516 type and Tony's two are K30?! Anton

Friends I made a balls-up in my intial request by writing "Can anyone please confirm that the Number on the rev. counter clock face of a Y/T reads....". Actually, I meant to ask the numbers on the clock face of the speedo! Sorry about the confusion :o) Thanks to all of you about your patience and all the links and pictures you sent. I am an instrument professional by now.... Cheers Anton

A little lecture: In German the speedo is called "Tacho" while in English the rev. counter is called "Tacho". Maybe this got me confused.... End of story Anton

LOL Anton ... we should use English English here on the BBS so no calling bonnets hoods and boots as trunks for all my US friends LOL! Be safe Paul
