MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - Airbag help please

Will be collecting our ZS180 on Saturday morning. We have a 5 month old daughter and need to disable the passenger airbag for a few months. Is this possible???

Short answer: I don't know.

Long answer: I have a one year old daughter and was told, when I bought her forward facing car seat, that it shouldn't be used in the front with an airbag either. I have also heard warnings not to put a child seat where there is a side airbag. Bearing all this in mind, I always place my daughter's seat in the back behind the passenger seat, which I move reasonably far forward.

When I asked the man at Toyota about disabling the airbag on a Celica he said that they will not do it. On the other hand, the Ford garage told my mother-in-law that the passenger airbag in her Fiesta could be disabled by removing a fuse. I guess that it depends on policy of the company and/or dealer.

Why are you considering putting a 5 month old child in the front seat? You must have good reason ?
Concerned

If I remember rightly, the rear seat will be required for other activities:-)

Somewhere to put the fuel cell?
Growler

nope, a continuation of the activities they used to practise in the F until the inevitable happened.

HOW did you guys manage?

I'm sending the pictures now Dd.

Oops sorry Nik & Anita...
Growler

rear facing car seats are designed for front or rear use. If you have to put the baby in the rear seat alone she does not travel well at all. In the front is perfectly safe and legal. Thanks anyway for the concern. I would still like to know if I can disable the airbag 'cos I don't want Anita to have another excuse to take the MGF to work.

Speak to your dealer, they should be able to help both ford and peugeot definatly offer it in their models it states so in their brochures. I thought it was standard practice for manufacturers to offer the option of disabling or removing the passenger air bag upon ordering, if they don't surely they should take this into account for safety reasons.
