MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - First Anthracite ZT on Gloshire roads.

Up until a month ago, I had seen relatively few new MG Z-cars on my local Gloucestershire roads. I was puzzled and begining to wonder if the people of this county didnt fancy them. That situation has changed considerably in recent weeks and I've now lost track of those sighted they're such a frequent sight now.

I saw my first Anthracite ZT in Cheltenham the other morning and boy, what an imposing looking car and being driven the way a sporting saloon should too! Does that car have Prescence or WHAT? I feel certain that once a few more Z-cars are seen by those less enthusiastic ordinary car buyers (the majority?), I have in mind those who want a nice car rather than the enthusiast types that inhabit this BBS, there's a good chance sales will pick up even more. When non-enthusiast car buyers see these Z-cars, unless I'm very mistaken, even allowing for a still depressed motor sales market, some people will want and get one. When they discover they drive as well as they look then the word will soon get spread around. Thus for the time being at least, MG-Rover will continue and maybe even thrive. That has to be good news for anyone calling themselves "True Brit".

Saw a ZS 5 door in Tescos car park last week John, OUTSTANDING i must say it was a stunner. Eveyone went up to it to look. Owner nice chap was told about this BB. What do think of it we asked?

"Great car, loads of pulling power" he said "Shame about the seats"

I rest my case, mu Lord!

Oh God! He's off on the seats again!!!!! Get the straightjacket!

I would if I were you; you could exacerbate your old back trouble again if it's a bit heavy.

I quite like those seats MEGA. Suits my ergonomic leg-body-arm comfort ratio perfectly, particularly on a long one. Not too keen on the colour of the engine oil though. Sort of oily colour which does not go with my eyes ..... know what I mean?

Still hiding behind mega-ANONYMITY you scouse rascal. I bet you'll never OUT yourself .... there's nowt so queer as folk. Do they still say that up north. Well L'pool is sorta north ..... :o))

Don't worry your self John, I will "OUT" my self when the times right!

I like the seats. I have had my ZS180 2 months, driven 3500 miles and I have had no seat related problems at all. I actually prefer them to the full-leather seats I had in my presvious car, a Rover 420 Exec, GSi, whatever it was called. Yes, I have sat in Recaro seats and yes, I have driven long distances (to Amsterdam via Eurotunnel)... and I like the MG ones.

... and I still haven't seen a ZS or ZT on the road yet. Seen two yellow ZR's and that's it.

I too find the seats OK,no probs so far!
the wife likes them too, so they must be ok!

I've not seen any Anthracite cars on the road yet, there was one at the dealership on monday, but I did not have a close look to see exactly what is was.

While at the MGOC today I met a lady from Leicester in blue ZR. She followed me for a couple of miles on the way to MGOC HQ.
She said she was very pleased with it!!

I'm amazed that you've seen so few in London, I really am. What part? Although I'll be up there this weekend visiting relatives so will see for myself. Most of my relatives live in the East End-Romford areas and there the Brit love affair with the Bavarian Sierra is most noticeable. Even Essex Man appears to have forsaken his beloved Fords - do they still build them there - what's going on?

A month ago I too had seen very few Zeds ... different now. My hawkeye son just came in and told me he saw a new red ZT nearby this evening. Great, looks like the local punters are begining to like them. Maybe us "hicks in the sticks" got more class and good judgement than those high rollers up "the smoke" ..... :)

I think I'm a fair judge when it comes to "tasty motors" as we say dahn the old East End there. I'm thinking that once one or two Z-cars appear in the company car parks, then that latent "that's my next car" factor could well play a part despite the very depressed motor trade here (worldwide?) now. That ZT really has magnificent presence on the road. Or, maybe as our scouse contributor sometimes says ..... nah, that cant be true, I dont posses rose tinted specs....... :)

Good luck MG-R. We all need that sometimes.

I have a place in Battersea and work half of the time in Holborn in the middle of London. I have had frequent trips to Heathrow, Surrey and Yorkshire and other trips to the likes of Brighton, Europe (via Kent), Essex, etc... It's really bizarre, because I have been on the lookout for Z cars but haven't really seen any.

You are right about the ZT, as it says in the MG magazine-brochure thingy, it has outside lane credibility.
