MG ZR EX258 ON TRACK FOR CATALUNYA

The MG ZR EX258 returns to the rally stage this weekend when it takes part in the 38th Rally Catalunya. The rally forms round two of the 2002 FIA Junior World Rally Championship.

With Gwyndaf Evans behind the wheel and co-driver Chris Patterson, the GSE Motorsport prepared MG will be looking for an improved performance from Monte Carlo when it crashed out on the third stage. Since Monte Carlo a new car has been built to compete at Catalunya. Further improvements have been made to the car and the team is looking to Catalunya as an opportunity to gain an increased knowledge of the car in this development year.

Commenting on recent testing developments, Gwyndaf said: "We had a positive test at MIRA and the engine has improved immensely in low-down power and durability. Whilst we haven't got a set-up for Catalunya we have learned a lot more about the MG Rally car."

Chris added: "We're really looking forward to Catalunya and hope the weather will be good to us - stay dry! Our aim is to get some more miles under our belt so we can further develop the car."

lets hope that the car last long enough for us to see it on the Channel 4 progs over the weekend. No gravel for Gwyndaf to hit this time.

Gwyndaf is certainly Division 2. Seems to be the only MGR sporting programme that's gone off half cock. Just hope I'm proved wrong.
Jerry Flint

Has Gwyndaf discovered "Police mode" i wonder?
Mega.

Channel 4 not showing junior class? :-(

There was a nice bit of MG coverage in rallying last month with the World Cup rally to Morrocco. They sent a ZR which did a good job of demolishing a couple of walls but at least it finished intact and got loads of TV time.
