NOT HAD THE CAR A WEEK YET BEEN OUT EVERY DAY FANTASTIC SOUND
TRYING TO FIND MANUALS/HISTORY OF NUMBERS MADE/
M E GROOM

HAD THE CAR FOR 2 YEARS. BLOODY FANTASTIC !!

Mr Groom, if you can get a pair of the Xpower pipes GO FOR IT! There is nothing on the road like these monsters!

Also share experiences with Mr Scarlet Fever!

A word of warning though! Yes these things are seriously quick and they handle too!
Don't try racing really fast stuff, DB9s and Bentley Continínentals. The speeds easily pass the abilities of the other driver and it becomes dangerous very quickly. Also the type who have those cars generally cant drive and get a bit "ragey" when they get can't lose what looks like an old man's car!

Neil

My Scarlet Fever has already collected his - a beautiful BRG ex-development car! Had a ride in his - it sounds wonderful. I can't imagine what the X-Power pipes do to that sound!!!

I still want a v8 wagon!!! Financially, can't afford to run it :o(
Rob Bell

Did 25mpg on recent run to Stansted...still can't afford it Rob?

Neil

You must have been tickling the loud pedal for 25mpg
Jeff Patterson

Hello Mr Groom

There are 883 of them both zt260's and R75's. 03 means yours is a mk1 (guessing) which means there is only 150ish, like what I've got.

If you are interested in being part of a group of 43 V8's then e-mail this mg.zt260@ntlworld.com for a questionnaire to fill in. No money needs to pass but you will need to be a member of the MGOC at some point.

03 means you should have had the 260 works done to your car, fuel pump, water hose going into the cabin heater, diff oil change, blocked drains below windsceen, stuff like that.

Neil are you going to Brooklands on the 9th April?
Tim Hayton

Yeah Tim

Brooklands 9th April? I hope to go yes absolutley! Unless the wife finds something far more interesting for me to do instead :-(

Don't know which car to bring though!
ohhh choices choices
25mpg yes it's true!
went to Bath over the weekend
some very aggressive blasts down the A303
still returned 21.5mpg!

Seriously these cars arent the gas guzzlers that everybody makes out!

Neil

ZTT CDTi will probably do 38-40mpg under the same conditions Neil, and remain reasonably economical in Town. Even our older 2.0 litre KV6 powered 75 was partial to fermented dinosaur juice - I doubt that the V8 would manage to get into the low 'teens under those conditions.

BUT there was a very nice blue ZTT 385 on the MG Enthusiast stand at Stoneleigh yesterday. And I gather it is for sale at SMC Slough... hmm... 8o))
Rob Bell

Your last chance to use up fossil fuels whilst we still have some.

ZTT 385?

YOU REALLY WANT IT !

Neil

In ideal conditions last summer when little fuel was burnt warming up I managed a somewhat surprising 27.1mpg over a 305 mile journey and this needed no intermediate fill. Last week the winter consumption saw a 22.7mpg. By comparison a long range run in a ZT CDTi gave me 43mpg so there is always a negative case in respect of fuel consumption figures. The issue is whether you can offset that added fuel use with what it gives in return. Most 260 owners, like me, will give the obviuous answer!!

Rog
Roger Parker

Yes agreed Roger which is why I'm not going to say it but to add that I have never in my ownership of the 260 had any interest in the consumption figures, if it had been an issue I would have got a CDT.

In stread I've got a V8 which I can floor when ever the need is there.

Darn, I said it!
Tim Hayton

18 months of happy ownership with my Zt260. I guess I get about 25mpg on a long run, sub 20 around town, but I don't do more than 5K miles per year so it's not a prob. What I've been so delighted with so far is the beast's reliability - only outlay has been a set of new tyres after 12K.
