MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - New ZS180 competitor?

Well, it looks as though the ZS180 could have some more competition. The UK importers for Seat have, apparently, confirmed that they are to start importing the Leon Cupra4 - 2.8 V6, 208bhp, 0-60 in 7.3 seconds and 4-wheel drive. Looking at the relative prices on the continent, it is likely to come in at £17-18k. I would certainly have given it serious consideration had it been available when I was making my purchase. Oh, and importers are already taking orders at £14.5k...

Now that you are in the MG family Steve, I think it will be a long time before you ever consider another manufacturer! Had the Seat been available to me last week at prices you suggest, I still would have chosen the MG!!

Yes but the Leon Cupra 4 will have some serious competition from the ZS 'ultimate'aka 'Darth Vadar' when its released.
Did I hear someone say 220bhp?

Steve,

Being a Leon owner (and MG Montego's Owner) I take interest in the SEAT Forum too.
How about the Leon Cupra4 V6 with the ABT 280bhp Kompressor kit!!!! :-)
Seat Switzerland are selling 145 official examples, but the kit is available for all VW V6 cars for about £4500. Add that to the £14,500 import price and you get bloody quick car.
Then again, the Leon TDi 150 Cupra4, with upsolute chip gives 182bhp, that would be fun too!!!

I thought most Brits would be like Kelvin as,compared to a country like France, a)image is very important there(the car standing in your drive),
and b)crowded roads+ speed cameras don't enable you to use the full power of these machines.
Has the "boy racer" attitude made these factors less important nowadays ?
andrew

And I am confident that the blown ZS 260 will be more than a match for any VW in drag.
Dave

Have just driven Neil Turner's Leon, and yes its quick, but did it turn any heads, NO! Given Neil's requirement as a high mileage driver looking for good MPG coupled with a bit of go, it fits the bill perfectly!

Hmm I am glad i don't drive down there! Here between Liverpool and Lanshire there are plenty of "GOOD" roads to have fun on. The plod use to be about but because they are down 600 members its not a problem.

I drive though a chamming little place on the way to work called Kirby. Thats where all the bad lads are. I see many of them driving around wrecks with no driving licence, no MOT no tax and best of all the car is not traceble to them.

Meantime so prick in the goverment is dreaming up way to use speedcamers on legal drives!
