MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - performance upgrade - see previous thread reply

re - police mode
rob

I wonder what fuel MPG the police mode returns. Rob keep us informed....
nigel

nigel - did a 400+ mile run today yorks-bristol-yorks, managed 310miles from full to red at 70-80mph. Seems to pull stronger from lower down the rev range and feels stronger all the way up.
On the way home 3/4 tank, slight decline on road (private of course-ahem) got to 132mph before i backed off at 6500rpm.
So seems to have made some difference, should be going to rolling road in feb so will see if any power increase.

Dave

Glad to see you are giving it some!
Mega

well dave the cars blue if that counts,
welcome back mega, people have been missing you it seems by some other threads.
would definately recommend the upgrade, only takes 5 minutes and it is noticeable lower down the rev range where it did seem slugish

Rob,

The ability to provide a minor adjustment that invokes another map within MEMS is one that has been around for a number of MEMS equipped cars. The usual technical bulletin that accompanies this says something like... 'In cases where the customer complains of poor performance and no faults are detected then following...' Essentially the new map has at least some timing changes and certainly on the old T16 Turbo applications was accompanied by a warning to the curstomer that 97 or 98 RON octane fuels should be used.

Was any comment made about the use of higher quality fuels?

Roger Parker

Roger - no one mentioned anything about higher grade fuel, i haven't noticed any pinking.
should i use super unleaded instead?
