MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - She's arrived - Praise be!

Been worried most of this evening. Leaving Gloucester at around 3.30 pm today, my wife set out in the MG ZS to visit her Mother who lives in Romford. She lost her way because of blizzrds, thunder and lightening and road signs snowed white-out. Phoned me about 40 minutes ago asking the best way from Whipps Cross Roundabout to Romford. Anyway, she's arrived at her mum's place now - just got there!! Over seven hours ..... not bad going. Praise be she and car are safely arrived.

Back in the pre-M40 Motorway days, I did that same journey on the A40 in 1 hour 52 minutes door to door. Won't tell you what car I was in - you wont believe me anyway ... and the fact that my Mother-in-Law slept for most of that journey too ..... ;-)

Could never repeat that time now in any car ..... such is progress ...

Good to hear that your wife arrive home safe and well John :o) You must have been relieved to have her safely home!

Rob,

I do not think your are reading John's message correctly.

It appears he is relieved that he got rid of his wife safely, not that he got her back safely!

John, it took me over six and a half hours yesterday to get from Hemel Hempstead to Sittingbourne. I got back at 10 to 1 in the morning.

This breaks my previous record of 6 hours and 10 minutes. On a good day I can do the journey in under 80 minutes.

My wife and the MG ZS arrived safely back home this weekend after that drive in awful weather conditions Wednesday. She explained that quite simply, that Gloucester - Romford trip was the worst journey she'd ever experienced and was quite scary at times. Apparently the Zed never put a wheel wrong but there was plenty of evidence that other cars that day did not fare so well..... lots parked up at odd angles some with extensive damage.

She explained that she did not answer the mobile phone during that trip as it would not only spoil her total concentration to do so, but, had she pulled over to respond there was the possibilty she could not get going again as several other drivers had found.

Big worry for the rest of the family but, on reflection, well done Mrs McF and the ZS....
