MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - Silly question, but

Hi Gang
Does anybody know if the rear seats fold down in the ZS version with a boot. I here that they don't. They are fixed up.

BTW, Got This weeks Autocar, THe ZS did very well indeed in the group test. Well done MGR!

Did not know they were doing a test in Autocar, will now go out and buy it.

Thanks Mega you do have a use afterall!!!!

If you mean the 4 door version, they DO fold down. At least they did in the ZS180 I had on Saturday.
Dont know about the 5 door version.

Cheers

Seats are NOT fixed!!
Rob what make you say they are?
Split is about 60/40.
The release catch on top of rear seat, inside the car, not in boot, the traditional place for MGR cars!!

The 5 Door hatchback has folding seats, the 4 Door saloon ZS doesn't.

Unless they have changed the spec. since Spetmeber, the 4-door - or at least my 4-door - does have folding seats. The difference is that the seat BASE is fixed - which is not the case in the 5-door - and it is only the seat backs that fold forward. This means that you don't get a flat load area like you do - I think - in the 5-door. Still very practical though.

Regarding Autocar, the lap times around Castle Combe were interesting (http://www.xpower-mg.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1204) as the ZS180 managed to beat the CTR and (Mega) the BMW 116 Cooper S AND the Astra Turbo.

The 4-doors I have looked at do fold and have a 60/40 split.

Folding seats are a standard fit - period.

Yes I am glad you rasied the point Steve.I remember Autocar testing the Type "R" last Novber. They loved it, now they test there long test car, with 8500 miles on the clock and very shagged tyres on a wet/ slipply track......and surprize it can't put its power down.

My old RS 1800 had very stiff suspenion and it too couldn't put its power down in wet slippy weather. The 206 GTI did very well because like my 306 it has very soft set up that works well in the wet.

THe ZS did well in both this weeks Autocar and this weeks Autoexpress. THey did the same test in the dry with a Type "R" with new tyres. Guess what, the "R" pissed all over everything.
Horses for cources.
