MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - Some Time Later On

has anyone noticed as I have, that the car, and yourself driving the same car just gets better?

I must have had mine about 16 months now.

The 1.4 engine has loosened up nicely at 18,000, best fuel economy at 43 MPG, I'm learning when to push the car, when to let it ride itself, how the wheels grip, how the car feels through bends and corners, how to use the steering. The gears feel easier, just slotting in as you change, I think 3rd to 2nd gear was the most reluctant sequence.

Zed R 105, better than new!

Like a good relationship - no longer on best behaviour, willing to relax with each other and not trying to impress one another too much, and more forgiving, too. And then even the little battle scars from the supermarket take on an endearing aspect as you realise you are both growing old together and none us get any better looking!

And then at 120k miles, you realise that the old dear might be willing in spirit, but not in the metal! So you do the decent thing and trade her in on a younger model!

Yup, after 10 months and 19k miles, mine just gets better and better. As for fuel economy, I prefer not to think about that on the ZT!

Martin

Gary, which Newport are you from mate, Pagnell,Gwent or Shropshire.

Martin - if you think the ZT160/190 is bad on fuel - fancy a V8??

Eric
Does six numbers on the lottery provide enough cash for eight cylinders?
MG's and V8's always seem to be plagued with ME fuel crises!
Martin
Martin

Does that mean you are a lottery winner, Martin???

Yep, I agree, any MGR V8 activity seems to concur with any military action in an oil-rich State!
Eric

I wish!
No, the missus says I have to keep the ZT for 5 years, so hopefully there will be a bunch of V8's second hand by 2007 that I can afford!

Gary

Gary, Wrong answer :-) no where near me. Else I would have said hello.

Martin a V8 B is always an option if you don't get 6 numbers up;)
