MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - Touring Cars on TV? (no specific Z content)

I figured that you Z-drivers would be the most likely people to know this. Are they no longer showing the British Touring Cars on terrestrial TV? I remember they always used to be on on Sat/Sun afternoons, but I haven't seen any for ages.

Maybe I've just lost track of the scheduling, but I'd be grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction. Yesterday's shenangins in Austria have convinced me that I want to get my TV motor racing fix elsewhere than Bernie's flying circus.

Cheers

Having watched the touring car on ITV 1 and then the formula 1 race at the A1 ring I have formed an opinion on what 'real' racing is. Watching the touring car was a revalation, people overtaking, groups of cars fighting for the lead, cars on the limit of grip and drivers putting on a show, with stratagy and the occasional lapse of any kind of team play! More power to the BTCC, it's great racing, but a bit more difficult to find out who is currently in the lead!

Richard,

Agreed - all aspects. Frequently witnessed great competition and action over the years even between BTCC TEAM-Mates! Witness the MGs bashing panels and worse at Thruxton! Never forget Nigel Mansell's participation a few years back in a Ford Mondeo during heavy rain on a flooded track - some of the most amazing action I've ever seen in 50 years following Motor Sport.

Missed some of the BTCC TV coverage this weekend. Because did not see any "trails". Must not miss next TV coverage - shame ITV did not "trailer" it as they repeatedly do with other stuff. If they did, not when I was viewing. But then I dont watch ITV1 much except for the motoring/sport programmes which are usually worth watching.

Thanks for the info guys. I guess I must have just missed it in the schedules. Like John, I wish they would trail it during the week or something.

BTCC is IMHO defintely the most enjoyable form of motor racing to watch, closely followed by GT racing, with the Porsches, TVRs etc. Rallying's pretty good too, and from what I saw the other week, the ZR's acquitting itself pretty well.

Thanks again.

If I remember I will make an effort to draw the coverage to peoples attention on this BBS. There are also a number of dedicated BTCC sites and forums all of which carry the relavant info!.

I will get in touch with PR people at MG to see if they can organise the TV schedules to be published as one of their press releases! This shud then filter thru onto MG news of this site!!

Of course they will be keen to this on a week that MG does ok, not so keen if they get a hiding! :-)

Kelvin

Remember, Guys, that there is now that frog channel Motors.tv on satellite which does BTCC (about 2 weeks behind, Oulton Park coverage was cracking) and the British Rally Championship, as well as ASCAR, NASCAR, Aussie V8 supercars and all sorts of other stuff. Worth a look.
Yorkie

It will be same footage!
only one set of cameras at BTCC meetings!
Might be edited differently?

BTCC meetings? Very processional to watch 'live' at the track.

Far better to watch it on TV - Motors tv great.
