MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - WARNING to all ZS owners

WARNING

My wifes MG ZS saloon was broken into the night before we were due to go on holiday to Greece.

The car was parked at the hotel, locked, alarmed and the Kenwood (Single CD) stereo face removed and put in the glovebox (MISTAKE). Upon checking the car later that evening, I found that the rear nearside quaterlight had been smashed, stereo completely removed from the dashboard, together with the face from inside the glovebox.

The glass cost £166 and a further £165 for a new stereo, (still to be fitted). Obviously its covered by the insurance but the total excess will be £150.

Just a cautionary tale, for all owners in case this becomes a trend amongst thevies. I know in future the face will be taken out of the car and glove box kept open to show that nothing is inside!!

(It was the only ZS on the hotel carpark and I coudnt see that any other cars had been broken into)

Regards.

My sympathies. The moral is NEVER leave the radio fascia in the car because all thieving toerage scum know that 95% of people do just that. Mind you, they might still have trashed the interior when they found there was no point in stealing the radio. May they rot in hell.

Make that WARNING to ALL car owners. Waiting in a large SuperMarket car park recently I observed three schoolboys, thirteenish systematically trying all the doors of the parked cars there. All were locked and when one shaped up to put a brick through one car window, I gave a quick toot of my horn .... they then legged it. Broad daylight. Had I not tooted the horn, some poor devil would have a broken window ... bad enough, but worse still thousands of small glass chips everywhere.

You really got what you deserved - there is no point whatsoever having a face-off radio if you leave the panel under the seat or in the glovebox!

Thanks for your kind words.......Its all too easy to leave the front somewhere in the car, due to the size of it.

The purpose of the entry was to warn other owners, but obviously its beneath you to do such a "stupid" thing.

Our glove box is now left open when the car is unattended and a message left on the console, stating the face is not in the car.

See.............you learnt your lesson!
