MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - YOUR SUPPORT REQUIRED NOW

It appears that something very wrong is going on at Longbridge.

On Jerry Flint's X-Power site forum, Part of a most comprehensive site dedicated to the world of MG-R in general, he has posted a message saying that he has recieved a call from Longbridge asking him to pull the entire site. Part of this pertains to the stickers which, given the copyright issues is acceptable I guess. But to be so dismissive of a piece of work that has taken so much time, effort, energy and personal expense is beyond any credibility. I find it incredible that they think that they do not need the help of supporters and enthusiasts bringing the products to wider attention! This site has very much bought me back to the MG-R fold, and I know for a fact it has also raised awareness of the product worldwide.

May I respectfully ask;

1. That you mail Jerry Pledging your support.

2. That you mail MG-R, either the Marketing dept. or Key personnel to let them know your feelings over this.

3 Point out to them other enthusiast sites dedicated to other manufacturers that are left alone, and even encouraged!

If this behavior is left unchallenged, I think that MG-R are in possesion of the most short-sighted marketing department imaginable.

Thank you for your attention.

I sent two letters to MGR. I had been to the liverpool launch of the ZR/ZS/ZT. I sent one to the marketing dept and one to Rob Oaker (product devopement).

In the letter i basicly said that as someone who runs his own engineering company i was also interested in what clients thought of my products/services. As i was sure they where as well i gave them a quick run down of what people thought of the cars.

I was trying to be helpful, and i was sorry to report that:- Everybody said the driving polistion was to high
and the build qualty was lacking on the ZR.

Two weeks later i got a repile from Rob. A nice letter thanking me for my help and yes there where more MG on the way and yes the seat problem WOULD be atended to.

Two MONTHS later the marketing dept came back and basicly told me that i was full of s**t. There must be people STILL there from the "Red Robbo" days. I think that WE must do somthing as well as what you asked for!

Everyone write to Autocar on this subject?
P.s whats Jerrys e-mail address?

Guys

This could get out of control. I am not bothered - I will remove my Forum comments and close the site - I just cannot be bothered with MGR.

Jerry has replied to this issue on the F general board....

It should be a bloody shame when you close the entire site. Since i discovered it it has been the main source of information this side of the channel.Information about MG cars is not as widely spread as in the Uk as we have less car magazine, producing even lesser info about British cars. I even copy it and give it to fellow MG friends. Many of them beeing potential MG "Z" customers. I sincerely hope MG Rover does not make the same stupid mistake as there forebears in misjudging the potential of thousands of free salesman for their products.

A clear representation of the difference between the new and the old guard at MGR?

MEGA, if you haven't done so already, I would recommend you send a copy of the letter from the individual in the marketing department to Rod Oldaker stating your genuine surprise at the nature of the response. I am sure that Rob will be more that a little surprised himself and is in a very good position to have a little word with these people who do the company and its reputation no favours whatsoever.

I would rather let Rob Oaker get on with his job. The ZR is a lost cause and any amount of writing wont help. The ZS is better having been a Honda Civic and thus engineered for Rover and the 2.5 V6 overseen by BMW. The ZT is a bit big for what i am lookng for.

P.s I hope that Rob Oaker is getting on with his job, because he told me that "New Seats where on the way, soon" That was 10 weeks ago!
