MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - ZT back number plate

On Friday I bought a MG ZT 160+ at BCA Measham in one of their Bank of Scotland sales. 1263 warranted miles! Registerred 31 Jan 2005. Looks great in fire frost.

It has a standard rear number plate which I would like to repalce with one of the special shape ZT/75 rear plates. Can anyone advise me wear the best place is to buy one of these and how much I should expect to pay?

This was a £35 dealer option when I bought in 2002, but a quick search on Google using number plate 75 zt should bring up a few sites offering these. One I looked at for a back plate was <£20 and you can design your own with the option of logo or EU UK blue band etc. The MGOC also offer rear number plates for the 75/ZT, but I can't recall the price.

I seem to remember Halfrauds do them

Thanks for the quick answer.

I have another question. This time its rear parking sensors. The only scratch on the car is on the back bumper. The car is not fitted with rear parking sensors and I am thinking of fitting some. Has anyone used one of the DIY kits that are on the market? Just looking on Ebay, some have 4 sensors some have 6 and some just have a buzzer while others have a display.
David Witham

Not tried that kit, but according to members of the 75/ZT club, the eBay kits work extremely well. Come with an audible alarm and a visual indicator that can be mounted on the rear view mirror with some ingenuity.

Our car has the rectangular plates too. Nasty.

I must get it replaced with a 'proper' one - might try Halfrauds - if not, may give 'Fancy plates' the order...

Unfortunately in my experience, parking sensors won't help with the numpties that park by feel! I generally avoid parking at the supermarket if I can.

The big spoiler as on the earlier cars certainly helps with reversing, as it is a reasonable guide as to the rear limit of the bumper.
Martin ZT

I khow what you mean Martin. However, I often find myself having to park in a roadside space. Generally I avoid supermarkets! At work I try to get an end space that is protected partly by curbs. They are very popular!
David Witham

I agree change the plate they look so much better I paid £25 for mine with a spare front.

As for parking get a dual purpose parking sensor the ZT is a great tow car ;-)
