MG MGA - Aeroquip style, oil cooler hose.

Does anyone know anyone in the UK I can get a 10" long oil cooler hose made? It needs to be 10" long, stainless steel braided and has straight female connections at each end.
It is to connect the oil filter block to the thermostatic valve which is bolted to the bulkhead next to the ignition coil.

My present hose has a curved fitting at the thermostat end which appears to be putting a bit of stress onto it and I would be more comfortable if it didnt have the slight twist in it.

Try Summit Racing Equipment. They do that kind of service, I believe they have a UK location.

Colyn,

Forgive the suggestion if you've already attempted it but try loosening the fitting at the thermostat and rotating the hose pipe anti-clockwise 30 degrees or so. That looks like the fix. Might also need to crack loose the other end at the same time. By the photo, the hose looks to be the proper length. Don't think you need a straight female fitting.

Thanks George and John,
I will look to see if I can find Summit Racing here in the UK.

John, I took the picture real late last night before I went to bed, should have taken more time with the camera to get it to show just how much I had to bend the flexy pipe to get the union to screw on. There is now a slight kink in it next to the union.

Try finding the local place that makes hoses for hydraulics for building machinery, they can make almost any hose to spec

Merlin Motorsport (Tel 01249 782101) should be able to help you - they are based at Castle Combe race circuit but offer workshop facilities to make up the type of pipe and fitting you require.

Thanks Dominic and Mark,
I may end up doing that, but I have just realised that Merlin Motorsport and Demon Tweeks etc sell lengths of braided oil cooler pipes and various push-in compression fittings that I can use to make up the exact lengths I need. They are made by Motoquip and others.
Apparently, you cut the length of pipe you need, push the end fitting into the hose and screw up the compression ring to make a neat and secure seal, they work in a very similar way to plumbing type compression joints. ( good for 200psi apparently)

They look good too.

I just need to find out the internal diameter of the standard size MGA oil cooler hoses and the exact thread size of the female fitting on the ends, so they will fit my car. ( 3/8"BSP for example? )
Does anyone know what these are?

I would probably make a new pair of hoses so that they are a matching pair.

Cheers

Any hydraulic supply place. Will probably be cheaper too.
