MG MGA - Attitude Adjustment - body sills

It has been nearly 90 days since I issued a progress report here, but I've been posting lots of photos and notes on my web site (up to 30 web pages, 360 pictures). Painting is finished, final wet sanding to be done today, buffing/polishing tomorrow. The main body shell should be back on the chassis tomorrow evening, and the rest of body assembly is to be finished this weekend. Target date for completion and first drive is 10 days on 6/23. Months ago I began this account by skimming and now have finished completely immersed! So tell us, Barney--Does the new grill fit the nose properly? Kudos to you for your courage, if not your enviable skill.

Barney - I love your expression "fat fingered something and dropped the fender " - glad it's not just me then - hopefully not too much damage. Fantastic shade of red though --and a grill from Moss! - nice present. cheers Cam

Let's hear it for Moss. Seems the big guys really do have a heart!
(Let's hope that they didn't just get rid of that mis-shapen prototype grille that was kicking around under Kelvin's desk!)

Good luck on the final push, try to eat and sleep as the deadline gets closer.

Cheers,

Barney - all I can say is "Wow!".

An amazing amount of work in so little time & so nicely done.

Looking forward to seeing you and the car at Seven Springs!

Nice work Barney. I will need to do the same thing after I have finished my E-type Jag restoration!!
I replaced the sills on one side when I bought the car as they where rusted through, now it looks like the other side needs attention. Hopefully there is another 12 months life left in them!!
Like you I think that replacing the sills will lead to a more involved bit of work. Oh well, c'est la vie?

Putting all back together is the best bit in my opinion, even surpassing it being complete.

I am getting VERY close to driving it. New photos daily now. See here: http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/restore/rt632.htm
The car has an out of town appointment (almost local) for next Saturday morning for MG Open House with a TD in Orland Park, IL.

What an absolutely wonderful documentation of the restoration process. As always, your sharing is appreciated and applauded!
