MG MGA - Australian flooding

I hope that you Queensland fellers have all managed to get your cars to high ground--and yourselves, too! May your waters quickly recede, and your New Year soon brighten. Good luck!

Just to give you guys on the other end of the world an idea, the area of Queensland under flood is the size of France and Germany combined!

I second Ken's best wishes - news today calls the floods "biblical"!

If you see a bloke building an Ark.....no, forget that, that was last time!
Lindsay Sampford

If you've already had the flooding, isn't it too late to start building the Ark? Noah started 120 years before the last one, but he didn't have power tools.
Mike Parker

I'm not sure you would want to load the kind of animals they have in Australia on an ark either!
Lindsay Sampford

Lindsay, what kind of animals do you mean?..we're not all that bad!
Gary Lock

Well, I hope you're taking it like the Irish:

We have been watching the pictures. It's dreadful. Fingers crossed for you all. Get the MGs onto high ground, but more importantly, keep safe. No heroics. Those surges look awesome.

Hard to believe that Australia has, until recently, being suffering one of its worst droughts....and it's summer with you.

Hi All, yes it has been amazing, last happened in 1974 and I was in the thick of that too. The images of the tsunami that went through the city of Toowoomba are amazing considering it is on the very top of a mountain!!! I know the city well as my childrens grandparents live near it, How does a huge wal of water appear on the very top of a mountain?? weird to say the least! As for the small towns at the base of the mountain, they had no chance. Now my city of Brisbane is flooding again (last time in 1974) as the Toowoomba water reaches our soaked city. Have just evsacuated my youngest daughter - 17- and her pets to my place in Brisbane which is safe but in those 30 minutes I was in the flooded area the waters rose about 15-20 inches on the roads. Right now its a brilliant sunny summers day...but with most of the city preparing for the flood to peak in about 12 hours time...very sureal!! To give you an idea, the destruction and rebuild will be over 6 billion dolars at latest count ( an Aussie dolar is equal to a US one dollar),

How are the Qld MGCC Clubrooms?

Cheers,
Matthew.
Wet Melbourne.

MGCCQ club rooms saw water in the botton floor, so inner walls and bar area including cupbords are all destroyed. Library and records are kept on the first floor so were safe but damp. Murray Arundel has had them taken to his factory for drying and safe keeping.

This link to the MG Car Club of Queensland should show the pictures.
Note the left side picture in the bottom row.
This shows the water height. To the top of the door!!
