MG MGA - Carb. balance gadgets
I have just successfully balanced the twin SU's using the device Steve Gyles put me wise to. see attached. I used two pieces of nylon tubing to insert into the pots, bent the wires and started up. The two now rise in unison! It is a very visual way to achieve the best result. Thanks Steve, owe you one - again! Barry

So simple and obvious compared to removing the inlet manifold and applying the usual measuring/balancing devices. The cynic I am, is there a defect in this technology?! Joe

This is the kit Barry was referring to: http://www.mgaroadster.co.uk/su_carburettor_tool.htm As Barry found out you can put almost any type of 'tube' in the piston damper tube. I believe someone on this site has even used a couple of screwdrivers Steve

Re-write - air-intake rather than inlet manifold!

There is a standard SU tool kit for this that has been around forever, It costs about $25 and includs metal posts that fit the damper perfectly, the wires, a jet wrench, and several other accesories. Well worth the price from the usual suppliers.
