MG MGA - Coupe vent window fitting...what happened?

Greetings everyone!

Well, I am turning the corner on finishing my 1600 coupe restoration but have run into a problem as seen in the photo(s). I put the door window frame assemblies together at the same time. Installed the vent window rubber seals. The driver's window frame went together perfectly and the vent window rubber seal and vent glass fitted very nicely. However, as can be seen in the photo, the passenger's side isn't fitting at all? What gives? There is no allowances for adjustments in putting these window frames together! The holes and locking brackets have no method for "tweeking". They go together only one way. How can one side fit so nicely and the other so poorly? As you can see, the rubber isn't fully seated into the back angle (leading edge) corner. If I pull it in tighter, it pops out of the opposing (straight) chrome locking edge. But, even if I could manage to make it fit well completely around, as you can see, the glass doesn't come close to fitting into that corner so it's not the fact the seal isn't fitting tight. Neither the seal nor the glass are fitted as intended. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Cheers!

Gday Wes, go to one web parts sites(Brown and Gammons) that show all components of the window and you will see a cover strip to go over those gaps and hide them. Bob

Robert, I'm puzzled by your picture and attached one of mine shows the general arrangement. Does your rubber seal fit in other places around the frame and does the main window slide up and down correctly. The geometry suggests that the vertical post is too far back but if this were the case you'd have trouble with the main window. I think that the opening vent needs to be screwed down more into the main frame, this is possible but will not help with the acute angle corner gap.

Robert, as Bob says, you are missing the pieces that go in that front corner. This picture from the Anglo Parts catalogue shows it as part #27. The MG Magnette had something very similar I recall.

Robert, just another thought -try fitting the corner trim piece and I think you will find that you've pushed the rubber seal too far into the corner. The trim piece will dictate the curvature of the rubber that will be more like that of the vent. I don't think you've done anything wrong but you just need to go the whole way with the assembly and that will make all the elements go together.

Here's a possibility when all else fails.
