MG MGA - disc Brake Caliper Bolts

Would someone have the detailed specifications (measurements) for the two major bolts holding the brake caliper togeather. I know they are high strength, but what length / diameter / thread size etc.
Thank you
Gordon Harrison

Hi Gordon
Are you talking about MBN0512 as per parts list? (you can see the parts list on Dominic Clancy's very useful site) If so, from what I can see it seems to have been superceded by F509FB which is 5/16" UNF x 1 1/2"

Gord - don't you have the old ones?
Art Pearse

Yes I do but everybody says not to re-use the old ones. I was just trying to see if the local bearing/
bolt shop could supply new ones for less than other suppliers.

BTW is it safe to re-use the bolts or is it the same misconception that you should not split open Mga disc calipers for a rebuild?
Gordon Harrison

Its OK to re-use as long as the threads are OK.

Thanks Art

I refurbished mine using MGB stainless caliper pistons with a new seal between the two halves and the original bolts. No problems.(so far)
