MG MGA - Door Seal

I'm having difficulty fitting the CSR door seal to my coupe. It requires a .120 - .125" flange thickness all around, and I exceed that in several places. The CSR seal is a very nice repro of the original, but is very limiting in the installation requirements, which is a shame.
Has anyone tried the SF or Moss door seals? Not authentic looking, but I need something.

Thanks,
George

Hi George

The edge clips are driven on with a hammer on a block of wood.

Where the edge clips are too tight you can try opening them on a chisel or with a pair of screwdrivers and you would have to do this in advance of fitting the seals.

It’s best to persevere with CSR seals, whatever it takes.

Also take a look at Barney’s INT-108B, it’s all there.

Thanks Dave, I'll check Barney's site.

I guess I'll try to fit the CSR door seals Dave. Two questions remain...
1. The start point of the seals on the coupe is at the bottom center of door opening, continuing to the rear and around?
2. Either seal will work on either door, that is, they are not "handed"...?

If the steel clips were pre-assembled by Todd Clarke, the pieces are left and right handed. The clips will be spaced to fit on the straight runs and avoid the radiused corners. Read the instructions that come with the Clarke door seals. See here:

For Coupes, Todd Clarke says "COUPE—originally, installation of seal started/ended at front bottom corner. Beginning/ending at bottom center provides a more finished job. (rubber ends can be joined with cement, etc.) Coupes were fitted with a finishing trim pc. to protect seal at lower edge.

I installed mine beginning and ending at the bottom center.
