MG MGA - Door sill protectors

Hi

Just coming to the end of painting the body, and seeing how badly scored the door sill was I would prefer to put a protector on to prevent damage. I know that most people don't like them as they say it covers rust but I know it doesn't. I have seen people put 3M film in that area but I think I might light stainless or aluminium. Anybody know of a supplier in Europe or do I have to bend my own?

Thanks

Hi Barry
google "paint protection film" it looks like good stuff. I have not used it my self, but have seen it on the front of a Bently and an Aston Martin both for chip protection. Some of the USA demonstrations look good with the water to position and then fix in place.
I would imagine that sill protection would be fairly straight forward, and not intrusive, as with self tapping screws or pop rivets, so that for me would be a big plus.

Hi Ross
Thanks for the help. As a last resort I will use the 3m plastic, I would prefer stainless stuck on with double sided tape. You seem to be able to get them for every model of MG except "A"s. I'll try and bend some up myself,if not then protective film.

NTG Motor services sell them (MGbits4U)

I used the stainless versions from a P6 Rover, cutting them to size with a metal cutting disc. You can make two from one P6 plate.

Hi

Thanks for that info colin. Will try NTG, they look like ribbed aluminium and might be just the thing.
