MG MGA - How many MGAs in the UK?

This website http://howmanyleft.co.uk/vehicle/mg_a purports to show how many cars of a particular model are left as recorded by DVLA (the UK Licencing Office)
The total of 1754 MGAs seems to me to be about right.
Its good to see a relatively low number 15% on SORN (Statutory off road notification)

Interesting tables. I guess the surge of registrations from the 80s onwards reflects vehicles being repatriated to the UK, primarily from the States. So, although my car is a 1958 model, it was first registered in the UK in 1998 and would be one of the 12 from that year.

I wonder what the the four MGAs first registered in the 1930s really are.

Wasn't the MGSA and MGVA produced around that era as well? Bob

But how many of them are still there? Mine isn't, although it is still recorded n the DVLA database

You'll be able to add another one to the list in a couple of months - mine hasn't been on the road for aound 40 years and missed all the DVLA updates. Hoping to re-register soon and take it out for th summer.

There must be a great story behind a car that hasn't been on the road for 40 years.Barn find, great grandfathers? Do tell. Bob

Brilliant portal to the DVLA data. This gives the registers a theoretical maximum target audience

I have emailed vehicles.stats@dft.gsi.gov.uk to ask why the model "M.G.A. Twin Cam" is not shown, as they show MGB GT v8

DVLA typically are very reluctant to make changes or more likely you can never get to speak with anyone who can reply other than No.

I question the figure of 1754 UK MGAs

If 101,081 were made:
http://www.mgcars.org.uk/MGA/mgaprod.html

and 80% reportedly exported then I would expect 20,200 cars in the early days...

So survivors in UK 8.7%

What do others think?

Mark - I would think that the figures are accurate as they are the actual numbers of vehicles applying for a licence each year - so it automatically updates annually. Actually over 90% of MGAs were exported and you can see that the numbers increased in the late 90s as exported cars came back "home" when the pound was strong - mine being one of them.
This would also mean that Dominic's would not be included unless he has it on SORN.
I assumed that twin-cams will be included with other MGAs -
