MG MGA - I got a Sutty pump!! - have questions

Hello,

The Sutty pump I bought finally arrived from England. Duh, I should have gone with air mail. It was only posted about 13 June.

I think the hose is original, was only shortened a bit to eliminate a leak. The paint was stripped to bare metal.

1. What color should it be painted? Is there a reference for a spray can?
2. Is there a source for hose? I may not replace it as I doube if I would ever actually use the pump.

Safety Fast and thanks!

I have several Sutty's that I have picked up at swap meets. They were all gloss black originally.

Cheers,
Matthew.

I thought they were supposed to be a shade of blue. Am I mistaken or is this a case of UK vs US vs Austrailian markets?

Anybody else know?

Is a Sutty pump a tyre (ei tube) pump? If so, I have bought several at what we call swapmeets (autojumbles) and they have all been gloss black. I think that the one in my original TC toolkit was also black.
Barry Bahnisch

I have several and have seen dozens more. All have been gloss black. The only variations I have seen are that some do not have the bottom section painted, the part that has SUTTY on it and contains the folding feet. Also I have seen some with top section unpainted.

Does anyone have the correct length for the MGA Sutty pump variant? There are at least 2 lengths because I have them.

I managed to source a brand new pump hose to the original specification (screw-in inflater connection) from a supplier in New Zealand - Frank Carter ( frcarter@ihug.co.nz ). The item is not cheap at $41.50 + postage (New Zealand dollars?). He may have the odd one left. They are not original stock; they are newly manufactured. Excellent quality.

Just checked my PayPal account. It was $41.50 USD.

Thanks, Steve for the hose link.

Still a bit curious about the color. Todd Clarke swears it is a medium metallic blue. Mine does not have any remnants of the original paint, so no clue there.

Perhaps some confusion here over the colour because the Tecalemit oil gun was light metallic blue. My foot pump is black.

Hi I have a brand new, still in it's BMC box, pump and its gloss black

Todd may be confusing with the Tecalemit grease guns from MGA tool kits, which were indeed a medium metallic blue. I've never seen a Sutty pump (including both mine) that haven't been gloss black. Some pumps have the end caps natural aluminum.
