MG MGA - Lubrication

The manual calls for oil into the steering gear. Where can I find an oil filler with a zirp fittng? Alternatively, they suggest pouring oil inside the gaiter with a funnel! Do they mean 8 oz. into each side?? This is not exactly baking, is it?

6-ounces of EP80W90 gear oil.
Very easy with a palm gun. See here:

When you have the correct amount inside you can hear it gurgle in/out of the boots when turned form lock to lock.

My apologies for being repetitive here. But new-comers to the site may be interested in my alternative set-up. I have always found access to the steering lube points quite awkward so I fitted a drip feed system common in many pre-war MGAs. I replaced the Zirp and nipple fittings with drilled out versions, soldering an extension pipe to the zirp. To these I attached lengths of plastic tubing that come up to the top edge of the radiator. Whenever I have the bonnet (hood) open I pour a bit of fluid down the tubes. Saves killing my aching back, lying under the car or leaning in at strange angles.

I find it easy to remove the nipple fittngs and pump in the required lubricant....Rex

I do exactly as Rex. So simple to remove the nipple, pump in the oil from an oil can with a short piece of plastic pipe attached and pushed into the nipple hole. Job done!

I got an "oil gun" and I use that to shoot oil into the zircs...I added a long extension piece of tubing to the end of the gun so that I can reach the fittings easily.

This is a pain, but it doesn't have to be done often.

I pumped mine full of grease before I knew about the oil recommendation. It seemed logical to put a grease gun on a zirc fitting like everywhere else. Am I in trouble?

Harley, I'd be inclined to get out as much grease as I could.
My answer to these impossible oil nipples was to fit 45 degree nipples and align them so that I could easily align my oil gun vertically behind the rad.
