MG MGA - MGA Register (not NAMGAR)
Does anyone know what organization would have issued this dash plaque?

It is most likely that it is an early MGA Register plaque issued by the MG Car Club in UK . I am a member but that is a very low number so probably issued in the first few months in 1955/6. |

The MGA Register was not formed until much later and the initial informal organisation was not approved of by the then MGCC hierarchy. I joined in '71 and my membership number was 221. At that time the Register did not issue plaques of any kind to the membership - it had problems enough just keeping going. I still have most copies of the magazine produced for members using their input 'MGActivities'. This ceased publication when the Register became 'official'. By that time I had become rather disillusioned with the then MGCC and was no longer a member. Alex |

MGCC UK Twin Cam "Group" was formed in 1965, before the MGA Register. http://www.mgcc.co.uk/mga-twin-cam-group/ As Piers Barney. Thanks Mark |

Barney has not said how he came across the dashboard plaque but I would guess it is from one of the Stateside MG Clubs as the car appears to have whitewall tyres! Steve |

It might be Australian, as I seem to recall that they have a Club called the MGA Register. Peter. |

We have a winner. On November 14, 2013, Eric Russell in North Carolina, USA wrote: "It was started in the early 70's but only lasted a few years. The return address on the newsletter is Providence, RI. My member number is (was) 81". See attached picture. ![]() |
