MG MGA - Mk 3 MGA unveiled at Tasmanian National Meeting

A pity they stuck with 1500 DB10 relay box!

Hell, what capacity and what gearbox? People who look at my B V8's say the bay looks crowded!!
Allan Reeling

3.5 litre pretty well a copy of MGB GT V8 engine with only the air intakes not copied. Will find out what gearbox.

The A belongs to a good friend of mine. it was built using the running gear from a damaged factory V8MGB and is absolutely immaculate- The paint job is unbelievable
He finished it about 8 years ago but doesn't show it often as it seems to attract knockers
It amazes me how some people look at this high quality machine and then have to spend ages trying to find a fault with it like a relay box for fu#*s sake

Willy - that was a in joke for MGA enthusiasts. James’ car has the right relay box for a 1500 as with all the auxillary bits! I was trying to elicit a comment “but what about the engine” but no one took the bait. It is truly a beautiful car and the guy has done a great job.

Where you at the meeting? I loved the Highclere hillclimb.

I didn't get around to asking James what gearbox is used, do you know, Willy?

I'm pretty sure but not 100% that the car has the mechanicals out of a factory V8MGBGT
I know he had everything out of a wrecked car there in a box and that was the plan to use it in that car but not sure if that was what ended up happening, as it's on wires--I was up at his place yesterday but other things were happening
Next trip up, probably next week, I'll get the specs

Hi Guys
We have left our A locked up in the UK and are visiting our daughter in Melbourne at present but missed the Tasmanian Weelend. Is there a link to any photos of the weekend events. We are travelling through Brisbane tomorrow(11/04/18) and onto Byron Bay and Cairns. Not seen one A roadster yet, only a couple of B’s and a Midget.
Having a great time in Oz but will be glad to get to drive my A in May

Brian,

Yani and I joined the Tasmania National Meeting and can attest to Mike's comment on the welcome afforded to overseas visitors from the Aussie MG Clubs. This was our third Natmeet and all have been superb!
Don't know if you do Facebook, but I posted 100 or so photos on my FB page.
