MG MGA - Moss vs. Victoria Brit. Door Seal
| Is there any difference between the two door seal products? Does anyone have any recommendations? |

| Gerard, While I can't attest to the quality of the seals VB & Moss distribute, I'd suggest you also look at Todd Clark's seal. His are supposed to be as close as can be to the original. I can't remember the web site but I'm sure someone could help out there. Randy Myers '59 roadster, coupe |

| I bought the Clarke Spares door seals a few years ago. They are as original, came completely assembled, and fit perfectly (after cutting one end to final length). Moss Motors has recently switched from the wrong and bad fit seals that they sold for a couple of decades (http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/interior/int108a.htm) to selling the seals from Clarke Spares (http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/interior/int108b.htm). Difference is the ones Moss sells are delivered as separate pieces needing to be assembled, which is a bit of a fiddle but not terribly bad. |

| Hi all I think you will find that Moss in the UK and Europe still sell the wrong ones Regards Gordon |

| Barney's site only shows "Good" seals. I have 3 types of door seals shown in the picture below. Red top piece of unknown origin in proper shape, slightly small, usable but not "correct". Black center piece from Clarks spares bought this year for my coupe, correct as far as I can tell. I just installed a set in my MK11 and they work just fine. Black bottom piece is the bad round cross section. Not usable, makes doors too hard to shut and more likley to pop open. Too Bulky. The red one came with a car I purchased in 92 that had been apart since the early 70's. It looks to me like it is smaller in size than both Clarke's and the Pictures in Clausanger p25 p41 and p40.

| RJ, the one you have shown as bad can be made useable. I bought the Moss version some 10 years ago. I was not aware at that time as to the bad fit reports. Sure enough, when it came time to assemble the car, the doors would not close due to the problem you described. Being a bit "economical", I found a solution. I cut the seal open at the bottom return of the round section. This allowed the door to close and the seal works as original, even if it is not concours. I have taken your picture and drawn an arrow to show where I cut it. Chuck
