MG MGA - New heater blower switch

I was driving the MGA yesterday on its first proper run of the year, a really enjoyable 100 miles over the Yorkshire Wolds.
It was a sort of shakedown run after replacing the fuel pipes, battery cables and quite a few other items on the car over the winter.

I pulled the heater blower switch and I happened to put my finger underneath the switch and realised that it was running really hot, almost too hot to touch.

It obviously needs replacing and I wondered if anyone had any opinions on the Moss replacement switch or any other suppliers?

Cheers

Colin,
I had to repair my original switch as part of my body-off restoration. Before you buy a new one, you should take yours apart and see if it can be repaired. I drilled out the rivets to take it apart and found the correct size semi-tubular rivets to put it back together. I’ll find the extra rivets I have and make another post to let you know what size rivets you need.

Colyn,
Here's my restored heater control unit with the restored switch.

Thanks Jim
that looks a really nice resto on the switch.
How did the contact surfaces in the switch look? and did you need to resto them too?

It’s been 3 to 4 years since I restored it. Seems to me the contact surfaces just needed to be cleaned up. My main problem was the wires seemed to have overheated at some point prior to my ownership. I cut them off, stripped the ends and re-soldered them and sealed the connection with shrink tubing.

Here’s what the unit looked like before I fixed it.

Colyn,

As part of my restoration in 2004-5 I did as Jim did and cleaned the contacts and have been fine ever since. Just used some emory cloth on the contacts.

Then again I'm now in South Carolina and use the blower quite q bit less than I did up north!
