MG MGA - Oil Fill Cap-Seal o No Seal?
Hi all, Has anyone noticed if their oil fill cap has any type of rubber seal or is a mechanical metal to metal seal? I run the original cap and it is without a seal and it does weep a bit. Just curious. |

Mine does not have one and nothing shown in the parts list. Steve |

Hi Tom, Mine is a standard one and is metal to metal - same as yours and Steve's. |

Hi In mine, which I think is original, there is a cork seal - see photo Jorgen ![]() |

I have a couple of old original caps and a newer or NOS one. I also have two that have been refinished and have no seal. All the others have remains of the cork seal as Jorgens. Neil |

Very interesting. Mine is the same type as Jorgens' sans the cork seal. Perhaps one was there at one time. I have resorted to wrap a rag around the base to catch the oil that weeps out. It really isn't that much, just an inconvenience. |

Hi Tom, Just been inspecting mine again - what I thought was metal seems to be a thin black rubber(?) seal on what is obviously a repro item ( with the car when I got it) - cheers Cam |

I believe the cork seal (gasket) is how it was originally. Peter. |

All Aussie caps I have encountered have had a cork seal - 10 MGA's to date! Barry |

Further to my earlier post, I have just had another look at the cap and mine does have a seal. Steve |
