MG MGA - Paint Match

Has anyone used PPG 14035 as a repaint for Glacier Blue? And is it a close shade to the factory color? This is supposedly a cross match for the original BMC color BU 4.

Okay, well let me put my question another way.

If anyone has repainted their car Glacier Blue, what paint manufacturer and paint code was used to get the closest match to the factory color?

Hi Fran, Im away from my garage but ..

Bought some paint from a Automotive paint shop (UK)

They had the colour match as a ROVER Glacier Blue colour in their computer.. It's a very good match to the colour on my "A"..
Ill see if the paint tin has a Colour code on it.

Ken,

Thank you so much for your attempt in getting the Glacier Blue code. We are still searching. The PPG paint company(formerly Ditzler)was unable to find the code 14035. It is strange, because that number is published on many of the British car sites as the modern cross match to the BMC color code (BU4).

PPG is checking their archived color codes to see if they can come up with the correct formula. If you should happen upon the code or formula, I would appreciate hearing from you.

Fran, I'm sure you must have looked at the paint colour reference table in Clausager, but in case you haven't, Glacier Blue is cross matched as follows: Glasso- 5143, ICI-2984, Gipgloss/Ault&Wilboug/Berger-17983, Dockers/Pinchin Johnson-CHB 103, and Ditzler/PPG-14035.

Fran.. Your local paint supplier should have an electronic paint survay unit. It reads the surface and tells the supplier what it takes to create that color. You will have to take a painted panel to him. Bonnet or boot will do.

Problem solved...

The PPG suppiler was able to scan a painted panel and came up with the correct formula for Glacier Blue.

Thanks all for your assistance.
