MG MGA - Parts for sale

With the new shiny bits going in my car, I have a few good and also shiny or oily bits to offload.

1. Osselli Stage 2 MGA head for 1500 or 1600 (compression is a bit too high with a 1622). Free from cracks, like new in fact.
2. MGB 3.9 Diff and halfshafts for Disc wheel Banjo axle
3. 1500 Gearbox with MGB uprated second gear and steel synchro ring. Also with 23 spline input shaft for using a B clutch. This is a low starter gearbox, and has been reconditioned but never mounted in the car
4. Spare lenses for the Lucas 576 driving lamps. One original plain glass (has a scratch on the lens), one original fluted glass, one repro fluted glass. No visible rust on any of these.
5. Pair of Bosch H4 headlight lenses, in great shape, LHD. Non sidelight version.
6. MGB Harmonic Balancer pulley and bolt
7. MGA standard Crank Pulley and Bolt
8. Brand new 5.1:1 Crown Wheel and Pinion for banjo type axle - one for the sprinters or hill climbers
9. MGB Jaeger face electric tacho - working
10 MGA 1600 or 1622 front swivel pins with stub axles - in great condition and ready to bolt on
11. MGB Rear Hubs (Disc Wheel Banjo) with new bearings fitted
12. MGA Rear hubs (Disc Wheel Banjo) with new bearings fitted
13. MGA distributor curved for use with Supercharged or fast road engine - would go nicely with the Stage 2 Head

Prices will be very reasonable for folks here, in November I will stick them on fleabay if unsold

Please email me offline if you want any of this.

Hi Dominic

On the 576 lenses, do you mean the glass or the reflector. Its slightly confusing when you refer to rust if they are the glass lenses (unless I am missing something) I would be interested in the plain glass lens.

Thanks

John

On these lights, the lens and reflector are a bonded unit. The reflector is often rusty around the edge. The shell of the lamp is separate.

Please contact me by email (see left for the address) for other questions, I don't want to turn the BBS into a market stall....

Dominic

That makes sense! I'll check my lamp to see how its constructed and get back to you.

Thanks

If they weren't half way around the world, I'd take the MGB axle parts off your hands. Too bad!
Steve Simmons

Dominic, I am a little late in reading your thread but I may be interested in some of the spares you have listed.
Does the harmonic crank balancer look very different to the standard one and do you know if it is suitable for a 3 bearing MGB engine like mine? ( my engine may have one fitted already but Im not certain what one looks like )

Im also interested in the swivel pins and stub axles, I tend to drive my car quite hard and it would be good to have a decent spare set for when I wear mine out!

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Colyn

PS Vin has his car back with the new door skins fitted and painted. I havent seen it yet but he says that he is pleased with the finish.

Hi Steve.

The diff has gone - I bought it in the USA funnily enough, and shipping was only $60 or so.

Colin, the pins etc. could be collected when you come with Vin for the test drive. The harmonic balancer fits a 1622 engine, so it will definitely fit a B 3 bearing which is fundamentally the same crank.

On fitting the diff and gearbox tonight, I discovered that one of the rear bearing carriers was allowing the bearing to spin inside the carrier, so that has been swapped out for a spare I have.

The Jaegar tacho interests me. Is it negative earth? Should it work with electronic ignition?

Cheers

Dominic, I would like to have the swivel pins and stub axles please. I will try to organise picking them up with Vin ideally (or, if not, some other less fun way)
I will check to see what type of crank pulley I already have and let you know asap.
Thanks

Too bad the distance Dominic.
BTW, how did the gauge needle do?
Mike Parker

OK Colin, the front axle setup is reserved for you.

Mike, thanks for the gauges that have now arrived. I have extracted one needle, but the shaft is much bigger than the gauge I doctored, so I have to fiddle a bit on the fitting. I'm in the middle of installing the new engine and it will probably be a job that gets done in the winter. I'll keep you posted.

11 and 12. The MGA hubs have gone, as have the MGB ones
2. The MGB diff is reserved.
6. The MGB Harmonic pulley is reserved
1 and 13. I am waiting on a confirmation for the head and dizzy
9. One of the tachos is going to Steve Gyles, still one available
10. is going to Colyn (looking forward to handing those over)
4. Waiting on confirmation for one plain lens, others are still available

Also just dug out a chassis extension if anyone needs one - without roll bar cutouts. It's basically sound and almost straight- bit of a kink on the RH side, but nothing that couldn't be fixed with some heat and a BFH. I'll get the stuff weighed tomorrow so I can give the requested costs of shipping.

Dominic,
Regarding the needle hub, you might try solder in the hole, or alternatively go to a hobby shop for a piece of very small diameter brass tube.
Mike Parker

Hi, just jumped from the Magnette site. I thought I could maybe use the Oselli head BUT my engine is a 1622 & I would need another camshaft as well I expect. How high do you think the c/r might be? I wonder if I could get away with a thick gasket???
I would also need 1 1/2 carbs!.....This is beginning to sound a no go-er! Oh well you have probably sold them anyway!
So if anyone has a Mk11 1622 head+carbs etc I could be your man!

Just checked Dominic and my crank pulley is a standard MGB 3 bearing type so if the pulley is still available I would like to buy it for mine.

Two points though
1st
Wont you be fitting the harmonic to your new 1622 crank?
2nd
How much do you want for the pulley + postage?

Thanks

Sorry to those waiting for shipping costs - I have been held up with problems on getting everything on my car installed. There's now going to be a pause while waiting for either new parts or machining work, so I'll get it done over this weekend.

Thanks to all for patience, I have now responded to all mails except Mr Manley (have to go and dismantle the diff and measure the diameter of the crown wheel)

John, I don't have an email from you, lamp photo is attached
