MG MGA - Radiator remomal
This is a follow up to my post about lower hose removal. My Radiator does have the plastic shroud. I cut the lower hose loose and am having trouble physically removing the radiator. Do I try to remove the plastic shroud first? Is there a trick? Or do I just need a second person and try to muscle it out? Dave

Dave Remove the bolts, remove the shroud, slide radiator up and out. Take care with the valve. Try this with a supercharger installed. Its like fine surgery! Good time to change belt and paint fan, clean the crud from area, replace air hoses. Ted

I don't have to worry about the valve since I don't have one. I had a bolt but the entire assembly broke and I will have to have it repaired which is the other reason for the removal. Is there a part number for the belt so that I can pick one up locally?

Moss part number is 460-990 but I have found the a belt made for and air cooled VW beetle works just fine.

David, Best to take your old belt to the local parts store to pick up a new matching one. Over the years, belts can be changed from the original size should a different generator pulley be installed, or an alternator fitted. Peter.

Have you original radiator repaired DON'T buy a new one, they do not work as well as the originals as the cores are different,
