MG MGA - Rattling window

Hi All, I had a great drive in my MGA Coupe yesterday for drive it day, I hope you did to. First run out of the year. It reminded me that the drivers window rattles, any ideas what to look for. It also try's to drop. I thought it might be the mech spring, but I changed that last year. Any help gratefully received.
Thanks

Hi S

I had the same problem. The solution is shown in Barney’s CP-112H. Do let me know if I can help you sort it out. Perhaps not the thing to start at the end of lockdown, perhaps one for next winter?

Enjoy your Summer!

Cheers

Good day S.P.

What a great opportunity you have to do a innovation to your Coupe'--

An ex-Rover SD1 series electric motor window drive will solve your issue.
That is, after you attend to the loose bailey channels that hold the glass.

The push button controls on both door glass is a great easy project
to fit-up.

The profile of the large gear on the M G A winder fits the driving gear of the Rover motor so making the job easier. [other British electric window winder motors may also suit --there is space for the Rover motor to fit.
Mount the 2 control rocker switches on the top of the transmission tunnel.
I have made this exercise twice one on a rubber nose M G B and
now the Coupe'.

If this tempts you, do come back to me on an E-Mail and I will describe how to fill-in a wet Saturday afternoon!

I hope your days begin to warm-up for you in the northern hemisphere.

Cheers

Hi. Thanks. I like the idea of electric windows but not sure I will ever get around to that job. What and where are bailey channels?
Thanks

That sounds interesting.

I'll email you for the details, if you don't mind?

Good day---"S" and " Dave."
Happy to pass-on the secrets of the electric window mod.

Its not too large a challenge to complete--just involves wome wiring--a quick job with a hack-saw---a quick job with a welder---done!

Come back with your E-Mail address and I will run it for both of you.

Cherers,

Hi All.
I might start looking for SD1 window motors but I won't hold my breath, however more importantly after struggling with the window winder handle and door handle to get the door card off I couldn't see anything obvious. I looked at the passenger side which doesn't rattle and found a fetish U channel and don't rember seeing on the drivers side. On further examination it was there but screwed up and not properly in place. I pulled it out and straighten it up and was able to feed it back down with out removing the glass and Hey presto no rattle. Is the felt channel the Bailey channel that was discussed in an early post?
Thanks for your comments. Keeping driving and stay safe.

Ian,

I sent you an email asking for a copy of your electric window scheme. It would be great if you could please.
